Questions and answers about donating to Preservation Trust for purchasing the remaining 22.5 acres at Exit 4.
Q: Are donations tax deductible?
A: Yes. The Preservation Trust of Vermont is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
Q: Can I make my donation contingent upon the fundraising goal of $1 million being reached (i.e., can I make a pledge?)?
A: Yes. For larger donations, you can submit a pledge form. To learn more about how to do this, please contact Paul Bruhn at the Preservation Trust of Vermont: firstname.lastname@example.org or (802) 343-0595.
Q: How will my donation be refunded if the fundraising goal isn’t met and we are not able to acquire the property?
A: The Preservation Trust will issue a check to refund donations to the donor if the fundraising goal isn’t met and we are not able to acquire the property. However, we hope we will be successful and this won’t be needed!
Q: Once the 22.48 acres is purchased, who will own it?
A: The Preservation Trust of Vermont will hold title to the property after it is purchased. The land will be protected with a conservation easement that will allow farming, prohibit non-farm development, and protect the valuable scenic view. The land will ultimately be transferred from the Preservation Trust of Vermont and at that point, either be owned by farmers or by a conservation organization.
